Mahanta family mires in controversy

Controversies after controversies seem to have AGP(P) president Praulla Kumar Mahanta's family which could stymie the on going process for merger of regional forces.

In yet another controversy, the family members of firmer chief minister have severely beaten up an AGP legislator in full view of the former chief minister.

The MLA from Chenga, Liaquat Ali Khan was assaulted by Mahanta's wife Jayashree Goswami with the help of son beat up him recently with shoes and sandles that too in his full view.

The MLA said thi s is fall out of what he told Mahanta earlier where he criticised Mahanta's failure in his stint as the party president.

Sources here said Mahanta was present when Khan spoke against him in the party meeting held over the weekend.

With this, it has become clear that the merger of regional parties will not be easy now as the MLA will oppose the entry of Mahanta tooth and nail.
