Landslide kills 5 in Ri Bhoi

Five people were killed and five others are believed to have been trapped when a huge hillock slipped atop the Umiam hill in Meghalaya on Saturday.

The incident took place in the afternoon when three houses where collapsed by the eroded soil and mud in the Ri Bhoi district.

The district authority has deployed workers in search of five others who are believed to have been trapped in the huge heap of soil and mud.

"An incessant rain makes it difficult for us to continue the search operation "said a worker deployed in the search operation.
