Kalita third choice

APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls and the third choice candidate on Tuesday.

Kalita filed his nomination in presence of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, parliamentary affairs minister Nilomoni Sen Deka, Rekibuddin Ahmed, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with several ministers and Congress leaders before returning officer Gauranga Prasad Das.

However, Kalita’s safe passage meets with increasing difficulties as the Opposition camp is fielding Haidor Hussain a consensus candidate.
