Jounalist killing: Police clueless
A day after the killing of young journalist Anil Majumder lost his life at the hands of gunmen at Rajgarh Road in Guwahati, police remain clueless but have arrested three persons including the driver. Interrogation is on.
On the other hand, ULFA's 709 battalion leader Hira Sarania has condemned the killing of the journalist who has been advocating talks between ILFA and the government for restoration of permanent peace in the state. In a message, the ULFA leader said they were in no way involved in it.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has expressed deep shock at the killing of the journalist and instructed police appehend the culprits involved in it. Gogoi said before reporters at Silchar during his poll campaign in the Barak valley town.
The post mortem is over where 8 bullets were found at his body. Thereafter, his body was taken to the Aji office and then to the Guahati Press Club for pay last homage. At around 12-30 noon, the body was taken to the Navagraha cremation ground for funeral.
It would be followed by a protest meeting of the journos at the Guwahati Pres Club to be attended by several eminent journalist.
