Huge bomb recovered in Karbi Anglong

A major tragedy was averted on Monday when army recovered a powerful IED at railway tracks at Sari sori in Karbi Anglong hills district.

According to information, the bomb was recovered barely half an hour before a passenger train was to pass on this tracts. The bomb weighing about 5 kgs was planted in between Diphu and Doldoli stations at a distance of around 2 km from the spot rocked by a blast on March 19 where passengers of Rajdhani Express had narrow escape.

The police suspect it a handiwork of KLNLF rebels who have planted the bomb inside a polythene bag as it was recovered by the Rajputana Rifles Jawans about 30 minutes before Maraini-Guwahati passenger train was scheduled to pass through the area.
