An awareness campaign about the need to provide safe passage to Amur falcons is going to be held on October 31 to November 1 at Umrangso, in Dima Sasao district. Amur falcons, a migratory bird from Siberia and China, stops over at Umrangso in the central Assam district on their route to Africa. Organized by Blue Hills Society, a local orgnisation, in association with the Wildlife Trust of India and Charities Aid Foundation, the two-days Falcon Festival will be held at Karbi Club Ground in Umrangso, 112 km from Haflong, the Dima Hasao district headquarters on the Assam-Meghalaya border.
