EC to look into allegation against Assam CM
The Election Commission will look into the allegations of receiving poll funds from tea lobby in Kolkata. Disclosing this at a press conference election commissioner Navin Chawla said on Tuesday that the case would be taken up at the soon to be held full meeting of the poll panel in Delhi.

Chawla, who is on a two-day visit to Assam told the reporters that the poll panel will act tough against any violation of model code which came into force as soon as they announced the poll. According to the EC, the sensitive and hyper sensitive areas will have some micro observers in to ensure free and fair polls and that the Commission will rush central para military forces to restorer normalcy during the polls.

It may be noted that Chawla has completed the taking stock of the poll preparations in the state in a series of meetings with political parties, top ranked police and civil officials in Dispur after the arrived in Guwahati on Monday.

Assam would go to the polls on April 16 and 23 and the process has begin in Barak valley on Monday after the president issued poll notifications.
