Curfew in Golaghat; 3 killed in firing

 Yet another place in Golaghat turned into a battle field on Wednesday a after the Rangajan tragedy.

Three people were killed and at least 30 others sustained injury when security forces sprang upon a huge crowd of protesters in Golaghat district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Erengapar area when a section of people who took to the streets in protest against the Rangajan police excess, clashed with the security forces who tried to quell them.

The situation suddenly took a worse turn when a section of the protestors allegedly attacked the security forces. Then police and CRPF jawans resorted to open firing at the protestors leaving at least 10 seriously injured.

Four protesters succumbed to injuries at the Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital while at least 20 others have been battling for life.

The district administration has clamped indefinite curfew in the entire disturbed area to prevent the people from staging paralyzing protest.
