Centre puts Assam on alert

Centre puts Assam on alert
Rattled by the recent serial blast, New Delhi’s top security managers has hunkered down on Wednesday and finetune a slew of strategies to strengthen the security scenario with a better intelligence network.

Reliable sources here say the Centre would soon to set up an intelligence coordination group to institutionalise all inputs and put them into action at the ground level. The meeting, chaired by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and attended by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrashekar besides others decided to strengthen these security measures soon. On the other hand, the Centre has asked the Assam government in clear terms to strengthen security across the state as external forces are targeting the state. This was evident in the recent series of blasts. According to Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal, the state government required to tighten security as it was clear that the recent terror attacks were carried out by certain "external force" in "connivance" with some local militant outfits. He said investigation was still going on and everything would be cleared once it was completed. But he refused to divulge in detail is there any fresh lead in the probe.
