BJP wins Dhemaji by polls
BJP candidate Ranoj Pegu won the Dhemaji assembly by election defeating his nearest rival Congress candidate Babul Sonowal by a margin of 9,253 votes on Thursday.
Pegu, for whom high profile party leaders campaigned got around 69, 253 votes while despite low key campaign Congress candidate Babul Sonowal pulled 60,000 votes.
When the BJP candidate took the final leader the party leaders and workers started celebrating the victory. With drums and symbols, they started singing and dancing saying it a real occasion a day before the Rongali Bihu.
