Assam LS polls from Apr 7

Its official. The state is all set to go to the Lok Sabha polls in three phases.

This was disclosed at a press conference by Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath on Wednesday.

He said that the first phase will take place in Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Kaliabor, Jorhat and Lakhimpur.

The second phase of polling slated for April 12 comprises Karimganj, Silchar and Diphu.

 The third and final phase of polling will take place on April 24 in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Dhubri.

The counting would take place on May 16.
