Anti-ragging  street play at Raha college

A 13-member troupe of Raha college unit of AASU staged a street play titled “ Chinaki Parva “ in the college today in a bid to raise awareness among students against ragging in the college.

The 20-minute play was written and directed by Angshuman Parashar and edited by Ashim Hajarika , Secretary, Nagaon district AASU Unit. “We performed the street play expressing how young minds can get tortured by ragging and how it can make things go haywire in the victim’s life. Our basic objective is to highlight the adverse sides of ragging,” said Mridul Hazarika,president of Nagaon district unit of AASU.

The play revolves around the life of a village boy who comes to study in a college and becomes a victim of ragging.“Unable to cope with regular torture by some of his seniors in the name of ragging, the boy finally decides to leave the college hostel and return home, abandoning his studies midway,” he said.

Students who watched the play, were overwhelmed to see their contemporaries raise a question on the culture of the so-called introduction between the juniors and seniors that could take ugly shape.

Besides students community , the teaching staffs of the college were also seen enjying the play and praised the good work. Mridul Sharma, proff. Political Science department and Gajendra Mohan Dev Sharma of Geography department thanked the AASU unit for the play on behalf of the teaching staffs.
