Congress high command has directed party leaders in Assam to ensure massive victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

AICC vice president on Monday was believed to have got tougher with the dissident legislators for allegedly not helping a section of candidates in the run up to the polls.

The directives were passed acting on the allegations of Lakhimpur and Tezpur candidates. Apart from the duo, health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and legislator Piyush Hazarika were present in the crucial meeting at Jindal House in New Delhi.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Sarma said that the party in rank and file would ensure a massive win in the polls.

He said that he himself would campaign in Lakhimpur on behalf of Ranee Narah.

Notably, a section of MLAs have openly refused to help the candidates in the run up to the polls for them to approach the party high command.
