ADSU opposed Govt’s move for Supra state body
The All Dimasa Students' Union strongly oppose any such move of usurpation of the ancestral lands of Dimasas and also won't accept any such form or system which will be undermining the present setup of the Autonomous councils of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong stated Sri Aripom Bodo,President, Dima Hasao District Committee ADSU in a press release.
Bodo stated that the ancestral Dimasa land was fragmented, divided and in the year 1962 the capital of HIDIMBA KINGDOM, Dimapur was ceded by the government to Nagaland without taking prior consent of the Dimasa people living there for centuries. He argued will the government of India or the state of Nagaland grant the SUPRA BODY or Dimasa Council for the Dimasas of Dimapur district for the economic development of the areas as well as protection of Dimasa culture and customs ? The Government of India should understand that any such solution shouldn't open a Pandora Box for the future generations to come. The central Govt. of India has agreed to grant a 'SUPRA STATE BODY' status to Nagas ,for solving the Indo-Naga problems by forming Naga councils in the Naga-inhabited areas of the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur for economic development of the areas as well as protection of Naga culture and customs. He further said that the Government of India should first bring to the people of the three states namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh & Manipur, a White Paper on the concept of The Supra State Body or Naga Council. He also opined that any such so-called solution should be done in consultation with the other communities to safeguard their rights and interest, also the Government of India should uphold the Right to Equality of all the citizens of the country, as enshrined in the constitution of India.
