Hagrama sure of BPF win

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary is confident that BPF candidate Biswajeet Daimary will be able to win the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls with the help of Congress support.

Mohilary told Assam Times in the sidelines of a function in New Delhi this morning that Daimary finally did not withdraw his nomination in view of his strong chance of victory.

But he refused to divulge the winning strategy even after repeated questions.

Campaign gaining more strong in BTC

As seven days has left to the scheduled April 8 BTC election, various parties and organisations are organising strong campaign for their candidates to contest the election. Promod Boro, president of ABSU took part election campaign meeting today at Banargaon, Patgaon, Aflagaon in support of PCDR candidate Rabiram Narzary, Serfanguri for PCDR candidate for Dormans Jatirindra Brahma and Gendrabil for Baokhungri constituency Gorjan Mushahary. Boro said that PCDR has been contesting the council election to bring good governance and equal distribution among various communities. He said the ruling BPF has failed while providing safe and security. He said that peoples should take strong step to meet change of society . He said irrespectiveof caste and creed are supporting PCDR candidates in the council and their candiadtes are winning in large seats.He has alleged that BPF had not taken any welafre steps to the council of which why common peoples were deprived from getting development and integration.He has urged common publics to vote for PCDR candidates and held good administration in the region.

Gorjan Mushahary,PCDR candidate for baukhungri constituency said that irrespective of peoples from all walks of life in the constituency coming out to extend support to the PCDR and his winning is cent percent clear.

He has promised of good governance and united society to the masses if he voted to power from the constituency.

BJP candidate for Banargaon constituency ManojKumar Brahma has also held his campaign at Tinikona village.

Homage to Bineswar Brahma

The Bodo Sabha Sabha along with various organisations recalled the contributions of former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha “Subungthini Thandwi”- late Bineswar Brahma  towards Bodo literary on his 15th death anniversary on Wednesday at his burial place Chandamari in Kokrajhar.
Organized under the aegis of Bodo Sahitya Sabha(BSS) with Bineswar Brahma Charitable Trust, the function evoked an encouraging response.

Sahitya Sabha president Dr Kameswar Brahma  hoisted the organizational flag in the morning followed by paying homage to the tomb of Bineswar Brahma paid by elder sister of the deceased, Thuntri Brahma.

Dr Brahma called late Bineswar Brahma was an extraordinary leader of the sabha as well of Bodo community.
“Brahma dreamt to forming a strong Bodo nation in the world but his mission and vision could not successful due to untimely demise in 2000”,  Brahma said.

Among others, BTC Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Nerswn Boro,BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary,Promod Boro,ABSU president,Lawrence Islary,General Secretray ABSU, Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, ex president of Tribal Sangha were present and paid rich floral tribute to late Brahma.

14 years of Garlabata's death

It sounds strange. Fourteen years have passed since Garlabata Basumatary’s lost his life at the hands of the militants at Serfanguri. The culprits are also moving without any hindrance. On the other hand, the former ABSU president’s family members have yet to be compensated. This was what his family members deplored at a function organized to mark the 14th death anniversary of the Bodo student leader at Habrubari village on Sunday. His wife Raktima Basumatary said that she has not received any amount of money as compensation or ex-gratia. Basumatary was involved in Bodoland movement shouldering president of ABSU during 1990 to 1993 and hold leadership then PDF party from 1996 to till his death. The government and local adminitsration has not given any facility or aids to the family. Bilifang Basumatary of Debargaon awarded the Garlabata Basumatary Talent award 2014 given from Garlabata Basumatary Charitable Trust. The award comprises a citation, cash Rs.5000 and an Aronai.
