Three-day seminar on Bhupen Hazarika begins at Guwahati

A three-day national seminar on Bhupen Hazarika has began at Guwahati on Thursday at Gauhati University. The seminar is focusing on his civilized morals and his donation to society. The seminar was organized by the Institute of North Eastern Studies, Gauhati University. This was flagged off by the governor and chancellor of Gauhati University, JB Patnaik, who was also the chief guest on the first day of the seminar.
The seminar will continue till May 26 and all the way through the course of the seminar, there will be plenary, academic and interactive sessions, round table conferences and cultural events. More than 100 participants from the northeast and 200 from poles apart of the country are predictable to take part in the seminar.
Main focus: The seminar will focus not only on the literary and cultural achievements of the doyen but also on the humanitarian values that he laid stress on. The inaugurating day saw many academicians and participants taking part in the interactive sessions.

Delhi Police will provides 5 special access ID cards to the entire student legislative body of each state of Northeast. Dharmendra Kumar, the Special Commissioner (law and order), has also guaranteed to create a Facebook page for people from the Northeast. There is excellent news for all the Northeast student - Delhi University has set up a unique cell with student counselors for helping the student of Northeast. The cell is being carrying out on both the campuses i.e. DU North Campus and South Campus since 4th June 2012.
