Husband stabs wife in middle of Guwahati

Our special correspondent from Guwahati : It was a tragic day for the Barman family. Jatin Barman,a resident of Guwahati has stabbed his wife, Bina Barman to death in the middle of the city at Ganeshguri before hanging himself at their residence. Unconfirmed reports state that a property dispute is the reason for the murder. Onlookers were shocked on seeing the body which has been almost slit into two. The couple is survived by their three college going children.

Modi holding 2 poll rallies in Tripura

AGARTALA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his second leg of visit to Tripura on Thursday to campaign for BJP candidate for the February 18 assembly polls.

Modi, who is addressing a huge gathering in Itanagar in the morning is arriving in Agartala in the afternoon. He is addressing the first rally in Shantir Bazar.

This would be followed by another rally in the capital city of Agartala just before leaving back for New Delhi.

The Left ruled north eastern state is going to the assembly polls on February 18 and the electioneering ends on Friday evening.

Father, son commit suicide in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Caught in a grim poverty, a person committed suicide along with his kid in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
The shocking incident took place in Sakakati area where local villagers recovered the bodies of father and son were recovered in the morning.
Talking to Assam Times, local residents said Chandan Mardi had a quarrel with his wife at night and went out with his 2 year old kid and fell down on the rail track allowing them to be crushed to dead.   
 

Assam down in Coochbehar cricket

Assam go down to Chattisgarh won by 27 in the final match of the Cooch Behar Thophy in Bokakhat on Tuesday.
The Chattisgarh team won the toss and decided to bat at the Bokakhat District Sports Association Ground. Out of 141 for Chattisgarh, AG Tiwari alone scored 49 runs followed by MSS Hussain with 40 runs.
Assam had to remain satisfied with 88 runs.
