The ONGCL, Assam Asset continued to remain upbeat when it comes to achiving all the targets in the first quarter of the current fiscal (2011-2012) inspite of several diffulties.
The Assam Asset is one of the oldest assets in ONGC with a very high rate of reservers depletion, has been able to over achive all the targets in 1st quarter of the current year except for gas sales which suffered a minor set back due to the lack of consumers.Expressing his satisfaction this is disclosed by B.K.Barua, Executive Director of the Assam asset, in a Press Meet on last August 10. He added, in this period the oil production has been over achived at 105.2% (0.302 MMT) against the planned out put of 0.287MMT. Natural gas production is also increased to 102% at 118.29% MMSCM against the planned production of 115.96 MMSCM.
In drilling sector, the Assam asset showsa significant performance which has surpressed its targets at 120% while planned targets was 5 nos Wells, the Assam asset drilled 6 nos wells. In the press meet the E.D. disclosed that the Assam asset will shortly lunch a project namely -SOMPRITEE for the medical treatment of local media persons and their family.

The 68th Republic Day observed in different places of Nazira Sub division. Despite the boycott appeals of several outfit organisations thousands of peoples were observed this Historic Day and participated in the Republic Day programmes. To resolve the burning issue of Assam-Nagaland border and reduce the tention among the people in the border areas, a harmony meeting was organised at Singibill Bazzar on Friday. The meeting was presideed by social activist Hemo gogoi, MP of Jorhat MP Kamakhya Tasa, DC of Sivasagar Narayan Kunwar, SP A.P.Tewari, SDO(C) Syed Zahid Chisty, SDPO of Nazira Rajendra Ojja, Nagaland Forest Minister P. ULFA(I) virtually scorned the security forces on Monday when the rebels in search of the sovereign Asom exploded a bomb in Charaideo when the district joined the Independence Day on Monday. The explosion took place at Pathaligarh at 8 in the morning which made a huge crater on the spot under the impact of the explosion. There was no casualty or injury.

Forest officials in Sivasagar district captured a leopard which has been creating a reign of terror at a tea garden area in Geleky. Acting on the complaints of the local residents in the Modi Tea Estate area, the forest officials with the help of a group of people laid a trap where the animal landed on Friday night. Freedom fighter, president of Nazira District Freedom Fighters Association and veteran Congress leader Subha Gogoi breathed his last at his residence at Mazenga on Thursday. He was 95 and survived by his wife and three sons. MLA of Nazira Debobrate Saikia, ex. Minister Hemoprobha Saikia, ex. MP Durpad Borgohain and several organisations condoled in his death.
