People are seen crossing the river Kopili at Kachua ghat at Chaparmukh under Raha constituency. Government has not yet taken any step to build a concreate bridge even after 63 years of independence.

This shows the apathy of the Govt towards the people of that region.Neglected to the infinity. This is probably during the time of winter when Kopili gets dry. Just think during the rainy season. Probably Boat is the only answar

Brajawala Devi, the wife of the doyen of Assamese literature Jagneshwar Sharmapassed away at 9 o'clock in the morning at her Amolapatty residence in Nagaon on March 4 after an old-age illness. Timber seized at Dharamtul

In a mission led by Forest officer Mustafa Ahmed, Dharamtul range in Morigaon district, seized a mini truck As-02 C 5347 at Dohali carrying high quality timber worth about 50,000 in the wee hours on February 28. The driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot, sources said.

Boat mishap, 3 killed

Ganja seized

The police personals of Nagaon recently seized eight sacks full of Manipuri ganja from a farmhouse owned by one Ali, located at Garaimari.The police also seized three light motor vehicles that were used to carry the consignments. The team of the police was led by Mujibur Rahman,Addl SP of Nagaon. According to police, the consignment was supposed to be transported to Guwahati.

Bandh affects life in Nagaon

The normal life was affected by a dawn- to- dusk bandh called by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in protest against the arrest of MASS activist Lachit Bordoloi and fake encounters in the state.Markets were closed,shutters of shops were down ,educational institutions, State and Central Governtment offices were remain closed.No vehicles were plying on the road.The NH-37 looked deserted during the Bandh.

Two held, arms recovered

Nagaon Police last night arrested two youth in connection with keeping some illegal arms and ammunitions with them. The two were arrested from Dhakkapatti area of Nagaon. According to Police, one 9 mm pistol was recovered from their possession. The two persons were identified as Sunil Sharma and Balu Yadab.

Minister runs after Commission

In a press conference, during his visit, held at Jungal-Balahu Garh Fishery Farm at Raha, in Nagaon district,on January 23, the Fishery Minister Nur Zamal Sarkar made it clear that the Fishery College of Raha will be shifted to Kachmari, a sub-urban area of Nagaon district shortly and all official arrengements for the said purpose have been completed. Tusks seized, one arrested

One Md Nazmul Islam Barbhuyan, aged 45 years was arrested on January 2 with three pieces of elephant tusks weight about 11.2 kgs by police personnel of Nilbagan patrolling post and Forest personnel of Forest Protection Squad of Nagaon South Division, Hojai.
