Gutkha seized at Simoluguri

Simoluguri Police, in a tip-off, seized the several cartons of Tez guthka packets amounting to Rs.24,000 from one Juri Begum of Santak, Bogdai Gaon who brought the gutkhas to Santak from Jorhat on September 20. According to her confession, she sells these amount of Guthka every month from an agent, Rantu by name of Jorhat with the co-operation of Bitupon Khound of Sivasagar town every month in her place and the bordering state, Nagaland. The drivers of the super bus, run between Guwahati and Upper Assam are the main co-ordinators in this business. The important note is that though the AASU, AJYCP, ATASU, the organisations banned the selling of Guthkas in Sivasagar district, this incident proves that the business is going on in a huge way in Sivasagar district.
