Protest by kerosene hawkers’ in Nagaon
The members of Assam Rajyik Kerosene Feriwallla Santha (ARKFS) marched a protest rally in Nagaon town on Wednesday against the recent decision of Food, Civil supply & Consumer Affairs Authority of Assam, regarding the fixation of the quantum of S.K.Oil at 440 liters a month for distribution among the consumers by street hawkers. The protesters alleged that the hawkers enjoyed distribution of 675 liters of Kerosene each month till June 2010. But the recent decision, which curtailed the quantity of S.K.Oil for street hawkers, will greatly hamper the poor hawkers.

The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Bajrang Dal on Monday to protest the violence in the lower Assam districts paralysed the normal life in Nagaon district. Though no any untoward incidence have been reported, but schools, colleges and educational institutions, commercial and business establishments, remained closed with a thin attendance in government offices. Except few private vehicles, passenger and good carriers remained off the roads with a few State transport buses were noticed.
