Observer appointed for Council election

The Government of Assam vide notifification issued on June 4, has appointed 27 senior officials as the Election Observers for the purpose of conduct of election to the General Councils of Tiwa, Deori and Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council to be held on June 7, 2010.


As per notification, Apurba Kumar Phukan, Executive Director of Assam Sarba Siksha Abhijan; Shyam Jagannathan, Secretary, P&D; Ganesh Kumar Kalita, Commissioner of Labour; Rajeev Lochan Duara, Director of Social Welfare; Sohrab Ali, Addl. Secretary of Education (S); C R Kalita, Addl. Secretary of Power (E) and Amarendra Nath Bora, Director of Financial Inspection were appointed as Election Observer for the Tiwa Autonomous Council Election in the constituencies falling under Morigaon, Nagaon and Kamrup (M) districts.


For the constituencies of the Deori Autonomous Council Election under Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts, Dr. Anwaruddin Choudhury, Joint Secretary of Tourism; Nafifa Ahmed, Joint Secretary of Environment and Forest; Ahmed Hussain, Director of Char Areas Development Authority; Chohan Doley, Joint Secretary of Education; Imdadul Haque, Director of Fisheries; Prasanta Bora, Joint Secretary of Agriculture; Mukti Gogoi, Director of Handloom and Textiles; Amlan Baruah, Director of Sericulture; Babul Chandra Borbarua, Joint Secretary of Transport; Tilak Chandra Kalita, Joint Secretary of Tea Tribes Welfare ;Barun Bhuyan, CEO of Kamrup Zilla Parishad; Sachindra Nath Barman, Joint Secretary of Printing & Stationary and Dipak Kumar Choudhury, Principal Secretary of RHAC were appointed as Election Observer.


On the other hand, Donald Gilfelon, Joint Secretary of Transport; George Basumatary, Director of Assam Institute for Research of SC/ST; Dr. Jitendra Nath Das, Joint Secretary of Urban Development; Indra Mohan Das, Joint Secretary of Mines & Minerals; Krishna Ram Mili, Joint Secretary of Cultural Affairs; Sushil Kumar Chouhan, Joint Secretary of Agriculture and Bhuban Chandra Borah, Director of Border Areas were appointed as Election Observer for the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council election in the constituencies falling under Jorhat, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Dibrugarh districts.

Govt. to bear kidney transplantation cost
