Teachers Protest on Teachers' Day

Kokrajhar,Sep 5: "Even though 39 years passed rendering services in the schools,yet dream of provincialisation of the school remained far from reality. I don't know when the school is getting provincialisation", said Manick Chandra Nath, head master of Gendrabill ME School.

Expressing anger and resented over the government’s insincerity towards provincialisation of school; the head master and staff of Gendrabil ME School in Kokrajhar staged sit-in-protest  on the ‘Teacher’s Day’, boycotting the celebration, seeking provincialised of the school.

Teachers staged protest with holding photo frame of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan, former president of India. he Gendrabil ME School in Kokrajhar district has been rendering its services since 39 years on its educational services in the area, which was established in 1980 and still today deprived of provincialisation due to insincerity from the government itself.

There are nearly 70 students studying in the school.

There are nine teachers in both Bodo and Assamese medium in the school, amongst them four teachers are getting retirement by 2019 and 2022 without provincialised on its services. The Gendrabill area comprising many villages, established the ME school to facilitate education .

Amongst the retiring teachers ,Mahini Mahan Mushahary(Hindi teacher) is going to take retirement in December(2019), Sadananda Barman(assistant teacher) March(2020),Manick Chandra Nath(headmaster) March(2022) and Chikar Basumatary(assistant teacher) is taking retirement in 2023 next.

‘In the next two-three years, we are going retire, yet the school remains non-provicialised’, said Nath.

Nath said he joined as head master in 1986 and offering his services without any remuneration till today. He said that the school was had got recognition in 1990. The school was dropped from provincialisation in 2013 due to land certificate. He said that today he and his staff stage protests to resented.

"We applied with necessary documents for provincialisation through the proper channel in 2012. Education department has declined to grant provincialisation due to lack of proper land documents.We provided land allotment certificate received from DC office as revenue offices handed over and taken of land certificate as records available with proper official procedural."

Only five schools in Kokrajhar district were recognised  since 1990, Nath added.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. The bail was granted by Kokrajhar's chief judicial magistrate.
