Art Competition Organised To Mark World Earth Day

An Art Competition was organised by “Colours Art Academy” in collaboration with “Small  Steps”,an NGO on Sunday at Lanka under Hojai District, to Commemorate "World Earth Day" which is celebrated on 22nd April every year.

A Total of 431 students from 26 schools of the district from different classes participated in this  event held at Lanka L. P. School in Lanka.

 The subjects of the competition were as per the theme of the world earth day, 2018. In Gr. A students of class 3 to 5 drew according to their own choice, students of Gr B were from class 6 to 8 drew on the topic “ your cleanest village or town” and the students of Gr C were from class 9 to 12 drew on topic “ how to save earth”. 

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Ratneswar Saikia, Head master, Lanka L.P. School.  In closing cum valedictory program  Bharat Tamuli Phukan, lawyer, Mrs. Gitika Phukan  Asstt. Prof. Krishna Kanta Bora B Ed College, Lanka and Ratish Das Editor, “Bhuban Bangla” chaired. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tamuli lauded the initiatives taken by both the organizations and opening of “Colours Art Academy”, lead by the Principal of the academy Sri Hemanta Kumar Sahu who is working as Asstt. Prof.  in Krishna Kanta Bora B Ed College, Lanka and is also well Known Artist.

He also focused on the efforts by the “Colours Art Academy” in locality like Lanka for our upcoming students as well as for interested persons who like to learn fine art.

Mrs Gitika Phukan explained in detail  mainly on the importance of fine art in education.

 Dr. Prodip Kumar Sahoo, the Director of “Small Steps”  explained in his speech on the theme of the World Earth  Day , 2018, specially focused on the strategies of eradication of plastics as pollutant to save  the mother earth and for healthy lives of each living being  of this universe.  

In connection to his speech the student participants took pledge to reduce uses of plastic to minimize pollution so that in coming days we need not have to carry oxygen bottle with us. 

At the end, Everyone present sang National anthem  which was followed by display of placards with theme message of "Save Earth Save Life" by trainee's of Krishna Kanta Bora B Ed College, Lanka and organisers of the program

In a sensational incident, one Ramanand Bora (20) was killed by his neighbour at Dakhin Bidyanagar in Hojai on Friday night. As per information, neighbour Deepak Rajkhowa repeatedly stabbed Ramanand with a sharp weapon.
