Army set up library

NAMRUP: Army’s DAO division camp based at Jaipur in Dibrugarh district opened a library in Tipling Gaon on Thursday. Set up at a local LP school under the operation Sadbhavana, the initiative suggests Army’s campaign to develop literacy, women empowerment, public health and relief and rehabilitation in the area.

Thungri, Dinesh main accused in Assam blast: police

There is more revelation in connection with Assam serial blast. According to police, Thungri Boro and Dinesh Boro are the main culprits behind the blasts that shocked Kacharighat and Panbazar on October 30. According to police, both they parked two cars in Panbazar and Kacharigaht containing some explosive materials. Babul was the driver of the car blue coloured Alto bearing No AS )1 AE 9726 to lift Thungri and Dinesh to Rangiya from the city’s Bharalumukh area. Babul was produced before the court of Kamrup Chief Judicial magistrate Kabin Phukan as an approver. Babul was silent when he was brought to the court.
Meanwhile, On the other hand, Rajiv Chainary and Mridul Basumatary on Monday were sent to judicial custody. They were picked up by police from Garchuck area recently. According to information, Dispur police will seek again take him in the custody in connection with the Ganeshguri blast.

Karbi Youth Festiva starts from February 15

‘Karbi Youth Festival’, one of the largest ethnic festivals of the northeastern India is going to be held held at Taralangso in Diphu from February 15-20. The 36th Karbi Youth Festival, a celebration of the resurgent Karbi people’s joyful expression who are in search of their own from the old Karbi rong (village) from the valleys, hills, and plains of the north-east & from the hearts of the nature. It’s a celebration of Karbi heritage and culture held on the beautiful and evergreen Taralangso near Diphu as its permanent venue.


The festival has become a place for unity and harmony amongst people. People from different parts of the states and other parts of the country are expected to participate in the 36th Karbi Youth Festival. The festival shows the rich tradition of Karbi tribe and it’s a place where one can many things.

Utpal brings pride and glory

Yet another Assamese youth has fetched pride and glory from Italy. He is none other than Utpal Barua. The artist has drawn no less attention by participating in a unique exhibition of contemporary art in Italy.

Utpal is among the 110 artists who have used different techniques and expressive codes, according to their personal tastes, to recount the history of the Mediterranean nation from 1906.

The Council of Zona 4-sponsored exhibition jointly with the Cultural Association E’-Vento, the event includes paintings, sculptures, installations and videos is being held at Palazzina Liberty, Milan, from August 8 to 29.
