MARGHERITA: Security forces claimed to have eliminated two dreaded rebels from Assam and Manipur at a fierce gunfight in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
According to information, the gun battle took place at Shankupani area near Kharsang in Changlang district where 13th Assam Rifles jawans were engaged in the counter insurgency operation in the north eastern state.
Identified as Kamba Singh(PLA) and Maniram Asom(ULFA-I) died on the spot.
Rebels operating in the north eastern regions are believed to have been camping in the dense jungle in Arunachal Pradesh to unleash terror in the form of extortion and attack on security forces in the inter state border areas.
ULFA(I) rebels. mostly, keep hiding in the jungles to extort money in some pockets of Tinsukia district of Assam at regular intervals.
