PASIGHAT: Pashighat health department in Arunachal Pradesh claims to have achieved cent per cent success in Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign. The campaign was undertaken at the initiative of district medical officer, Dr. Mandip Perme and DRCHO, Dr. Tatok Gao.
Addressing a press conference recently, DMO Dr. Perme said concerted effort and support from all quarter including each villagers and villages are needed to ensure complete eradication of the Measles and Rubella including role of media in spreading the awareness. Health department officials are also visiting all the schools in the urban and rural areas and training & orienting the teachers, ICDS functionaries, PRI members etc and disseminating awareness among the public to garner supports for the campaign. To this regard, DC has also directed all departments to support the campaign.
The new vaccine has been introduced in a campaign mode and is one of the world's largest vaccination campaign targeted to cover 41 crores of children by the end of 2018. The vaccine will be administered to all the children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years. Till now the campaign has completed the phase 1 and 2 under which 13 states have been introduced with the vaccine.
To this regard, the World Health Organization is providing the technical supports to the Government for this programme along with UNICEF. Arunachal Pradesh is among the states of the North-East which will be a part of this nationwide campaign to be undertaken in the third phase.
