Sub Junior Hockey(Men) Champs kicks off

Ranjit Dutta, Minister of Handloom, Irrigation and Textiles and President of Biswhnath Charali Sport's Association formally opened the 8th National Sub-Junior (Men) Hockey Championship 2018 at Hojai Stadium ground on Fridayafternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, He Said,"The Aim of Assam Government is to train the young talented youth's of Assam, so that they can feature their talent at International games, Assam has many hidden talents."

He further said," Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is taking major steps to upgrade the sports activities in Assam, We have taken major steps where if a player from Assam wins at any International  game, he will be awarded with one Crore rupees plus an government Job."

Shiladitya Dev, Hojai MLA said," Hojai is newly formed district and we are Very delighted to host this mega event here, today their may be shortage of some amenities, but one day in Hojai will host national games continuously."

Mukesh Agarwalla,ADGP said," We must take  inspiration from Major Dayan Chand, how he was dedicated towards his game at age of 12 and started playing hockey and won many international tournaments for the Nation."

The welcome speech was delivered by Manvendra Pratap Singh,Deputy Commissioner,Hojai. In the beginning  of the opening ceremony flag' s of Hockey India,Assam Hockey Association and Hojai District Sport's Assocition were hoisted and altogether 21state's teams Marched the ground. Cultural programme was also organised.

Bishnu Prasad  Rabha, DIG, Devojyoti Mukherjee, Superintendent Of Police, Hojai District, Mamta  Dey, Chairperson HMB, Rajnish Mishra, Former Player and many other dignitaries shared the dais. The anochring was done by Tapan Das , Treasurer Hockey India and Secretary, Assam Hockey Association.

On Friday in the pooling match' s  Rajasthan Hockey Team beat Telangana Hockey team by 9 goals, Himachal Hockey team beat Uttrakand Hockey team by 1 goal, Bengal Hockey Association beat Kerala Hockey by 10 goals,  Him Hockey beat Bengaluru Hockey by 3 goals,  Sports Authority of Gujarat (Hockey Academy) beat Hockey Jammu and Kashmir   by 3 goals.

Match between Mumbai Hockey Association  ltd and Hockey Madhya Pradesh was draw, Assam Hockey and Hockey Coorg  match was draw and Match between Hockey Mizoram  and Hockey Gujarat was Forieted.

Sensation Prevailed in Nilbagan under Hojai District, as one youth died of electrocution, while working at his home on Wednesday evening. The youth is Muna Ahmed(22), s/o  Nazrul Isam. The family immediately rushed him to Nilbagan Adarsha Hospital but Doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile, Murajhar Police got the information. Ankita Dey of Lanka town under Hojai district has brought laurels for her home town as well as district by  securing 10th position in High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2020. Hojai: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday took stock of various flood affected areas  in Hojai district. CM visited viz, Hatimura,Dakshin Kenduguri, Nabhanga,Jugijaan Villages here. Notably, due to incessant rain last week, the Kopili and Jamuna river were over-flooded as a consequence of which many villages of the district were submerged in first wave of flood.
