A silent effort called Brahmaputra Campaign is underway for sensitizing on clean and creative riverbank environment, by volunteers’ association Jeevan Initiative. As part of this, various competitions are being organized for the residents of Assam. Entries for photography, video, poster design, sculpture, street-play on the theme of the Brahmaputra and the riverbanks may be submitted at Basic Plus book store, Opposite New Arts Building, Cotton University, Guwahati-1, or jeevan.initiative@gmail.com by December 27. Besides dance based on Brahmaputra or its tributaries, instrumental music, folk song, mono and duet acting, unplugged music competitions will be held at the 7th Jeevan Kite & River Festival from January 4 to 8 at the riverside behind Sonaram Field, Guwahati. There will also be an open talentbox for showcasing any other talent. Most contests are open for all, while a few have a separate section for kids upto class VIII. For the final state-level competitions of art and quiz, four zonal qualifying contests are being organized at Bajali College on December 23, Sonari College on December 24, Nagaon College on December 28, and Guwahati on January 5.
