GUWAHATI:The United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA-I) reiterated sovereignty and independence for Assam alleging decade old injustice, negligence by the mainland people.
In a statement issued on the eve of the Protest Day on Tuesday, the rebel outfit's chairman Abhijit Asom raised a slew of examples suggesting the Centre's step motherly treatment to Assam and its people.
He lashed out at the state's political class for concentrating only on the electoral fates.
He said the mainland manners, customs and cultures have been engulfing the unique culture of Assam and its people adding that if it goes unchecked these Assamese wont last long as a nation.
On November in 1991, the Centre imposed President's Rule in Assam apart from launching operation Bajrang against ULFA across the state dissolving the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta Government.
