Tribute to Bhupen Hazarika
Assam on Friday paid tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika on the 91st birth anniversary of the music maestro with huge pomp and gaiety. Cut outs of the film maker and music composer were installed in the nook and corner of thr state for celebrating his day long birth anniversary.
Bhupendra Sangeet competition, discussion of the Assam Ratna’s life and contribution and cultural programmes were lined up in many places to mark the occasion.
People thronged in thousands at the Gauhati university premises to catch a glimpse of his grave. The Assam government is holding a huge function on the occasion in presence of many notable singers and scholars.

The 7th edition of the northeast Butterfly meet was concluded at Raimona National Park in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Executive Member for Forest & Environment Ranjit Basumatary inaugurated the event at Kachugaon.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language.
Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi)

The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar.
