Relief materials distributed

The Believers Church Diocese in Bongaigaon draws huge appreciation after they reached out to the flood hit people in the BTAD areas. 

A team from the organization on Friday distributed some  food among the flood affected people at Chapaguri in Chirang district. 

The materials included 40 quintal rice, 4 quintal Massor Dal, 10 quintal Potato, 2 quintal Iodine Salt, two hundred liters of mustard oil, 200 packets of candles, safety match boxes and bread for children. 

Diganta Baishya, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, attending the distribution programme said, “ People coming here for some rice, dal and potatoes itself tells us the difficult times in your family due to the flood. 

Believers Church Bongaigaon Diocese reaching out to flood affected inmates to grant a week ration at this time is quite commendable. Church is always doing charity work and will do continually.”

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
