At a time when fake encounters take the centrestage of nationwide debate, a CRPF top gun posted in Assam makes a stunning revelation on a recent gunbattle in Chirang district where the security forces claimed to have eliminated two Boro rebels triggering anger across the state.
He is non other than Rajnish Rai, the CRPF inspector general who in his recent letters to Assan Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, DGP Mukesh Sahay and CRPF DG revealed the inside story of the March 30 encounter which was staged managed even after two local youths were picked up and shot dead in cold blood.
According to him, the encounter took place Simluguri under Amguri police station and that arms were placed near the two lifeless youths and the security forces claimed on have seized two arms from their possession.
Rai, in his letter on April 17, urged the authorities to institute an impartial probe to unearth the truth forcing chief secretary and DGP to order an inquiry into the allegations.
