Highway robbery attempt foiled: two robbers killed and three arrested
In the wee hours of 10th August police killed two robbers named Jalaluddin and Rahimuddin when they were robbing a Manipur bound night super bus at Deopani Jengai under Santipur P.S. in Karbi Anglong district. Three robbers named Ajiruddin Laskar, Raju Das and Motiur Rahman were also arrested by the police.
According to the sources a ten member team of highway robbers stopped a Manipur bound night super bus bearing No. MN-01/1781 at Deopani Jengai and started robbing cash, ornaments, mobile handsets etc from the passengers. The santipur police on getting the information about the robbery immediately arrived at the spot and the robbers started firing at the police. Two robbers were killed in the shootout between the police and the robbers. Police recovered one pistol, three rounds of live cartridge and six numbers of mobile handsets from the arrested robbers.

In a bizzare incident involving CRPF, one CRPF jawan was killed and another was critically injred when an exchange of fire took place between themselves. The incident took place at around 8.00 PM in the Tetelitol CRPF Check Point at Golagat. The ongoing economic blockade in protest against the atrocities of Nagaland Police over the students of Assam has reached its third day today. More than three hundred trucks carrying amenities to Nagaland had been stranded at Rangajan Tini Ali on NH-39 near Golaghat. Rangajan Tini Ali have virtually turned into an abode of trucks. The All Assam Students Union has begun indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland. The blockade has been called in protest against the firing and assault by Nagaland police in Golaghat on Wednesday where atleast 22 people were injured.
