An electricity post was damaged due to the excavation work going on for construction of the widening process of the proposed four lane road in front of the Khetri Police Station, near Guwahati today. The resulted short-circuit in the electrical post damaged many electronics goods of that area used in the households. Following this, hundreds of angry people gheraowd the Khetri Police Station.They damaged the excavator used in the construction site. Assam's first photo-journalist and cine director Amulya Manna passed away at Nagaon on 19-01-08 at the age of 80. He left behind his wife, one daughter and three sons.Besides being involved in the production of several cinemas in Assam, he directed 'Marishika', 'Pathar Aru Jiban' and documentaries, 'Sadiya Radha' and 'Flowers of Assam'.
