Amid huge security around 1,80,203 electorates are voting in Boithalangsu to elect a new MLA on Saturday.
The polling was not brisk early in the morning when it started at 7 in the morning. But more and more people started making long queues in front of the 246 booths where polling will continue till 4 in the afternoon where three candidates are on the fray.
The main contest confines to Congress and BJP. But Independent candidate Raju Rongpi is no less popular who is expected to make big dents in BJP and Congress pockets. Mansing Rongpi is BJP candidate who won the seat with Congress ticket in the last assembly polls. Rongpi locks horns with Rupamsing Ronghung whom Congress allowed to contest the by polls.
The poll panel is holding the by polls since Congress MLA Mansing Rongpi left the party and joined BJP.
