All out against Centre

A huge convention in Guwahati on Saturday has vehemently opposed the Centre’s move to accord refugee status to the neighbouring Hindu nationals fearing that the north eastern state would have to bear the brunt.

Speakers after speakers in the AJYCP-sponsored day long summit stressed a slew of initiatives to go all out against the Centre’s policy saying that nobody would be allowed to turn Assam into a dustbin.

They further have strongly opposed the move to auction 12 marginal oilfields to the private players saying that the Centre would not be allowed to proceed with the deal.

Further, the speakers unanimously have asked the Centre to announce Assam flood and erosion as a national calamity alleging despite repeated memorandum and assurance the perennial problems have been allowed to crush Assam and its economy.

AJYCP president Biraj Kumar Talukdar presided over the convention attended by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, former Cotton College principal Udayaditya Bharali, AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, AASU General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Tiwa Students Union leaders, Ahom Sena leaders.
