ABSU hails Sonowal and alliance parties

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) congratulate the BJP party and allies including BPF for their wonderful success in Assam assembly election 2016 and especially Sarbananda Sonowal as a team leader, who took sworn as Chief Minister on Tuesday, which also put across its salutation to Sonowal. The union hopes that the new ruling team will execute all their election promises in to reality. It was said during election campaign that the Indigenous people of the state will be safe under the new leadership and the preceding election was the last battle to save the state and its indigenous Community & Land, on the other hand tribal are fighting for land and identity, so we would appeal the new CM not to ignore any one of the problem faced by the indigenous Trial peoples of Assam. Tribal are facing lost of problem in protecting their land in the constitutionally reserved belt & block areas, because maximum land of the Belt & Block areas has been illegally occupied by the people who are not entitled, the students’ union said in a release. ‘Tribals are being deprived from right to employment since couple of decades as thousands of backlog post has been converted to general category. In the case of promotion of ST employees also the special promotion for ST has been halt by some ant-tribal officials in the state which is due right of the tribal employees according to the constitution of India. For many years the money coming for tribal development has not been implemented properly, the money spent for ordinary schemes which are not gaining the population of the state’, said release.

According to law every children has right to learn in mother tongue in elementary level but that is not done in the state for which children of many tribal communities are being deprived from their right as their language are not recognized as medium of instruction which is violation of RTE so we request him protection and promotion of the language cultures of different tribal community must get priority in the ruling policy of new government.

‘Good governance was a serious matter in Assam, common masses has to so many troubles in the way of getting their work done in the offices, form Janata Bhawan to Panchayat and municipality office every where people need to pay like paying for fanatic groups in rural areas. Behavior of officers in different Govt. offices with general citizens is so unsympathetic which makes a huge gap between public and government and DALAL get a ground to corrupt the underprivileged people that must be checked’, the students union demands.

In March, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India formed a three member committee to find out solution of the scheduling issue of the sixth communities of Assam by changing its modality, the students union request on behalf of All the Tribal’s of Assam to ensure the protection of the identity, socio-cultural values & various rights of the present tribal’s of Assam before going to enlist more communities into ST list in Assam. Because some of the communities in the proposal have a large number of creamy layer and for them underprivileged section of the same communities will be deprived and it will affect the existing ST too. If the government of India does not take the present tribal’s in account before going to take any decision as it will be direct discrimination on the part of the present tribal of Assam. We hope the new government of Assam under the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal from Tribal origin will not ignore the tribal’s the autochthons of this land as it was happening since independence.

ABSU request to resolve the problems in education from KG to PG in the state in priority, because education is only means of human resource development in the state. The venture school problem should be resolved as early as possible, because venture schools has been playing a vital role in the field of education where the government did not build any schools, so the issues must be solved with sympathetic approach. Education department is not less than civil administration and police administration but it is getting less important than any other department in the state. The students’ union also demand teachers and officers’ accountability commission to ensure the quality education and corruption in education department of Assam and councils, the release said.
