The North east region will no longer be lingering in the back stage of progress if the North East Vision 2020 is to be believed. To be released by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the national capital on Wednesday, the document, first of its kind in the region will pave the way for a structural transformation in terms of development ensuring a GDP 12.95 per cent growth per annum from the current 7.5 per cent.
Sources here say the entire document aims at bridging the yawning gap of North East with the rest of the country with 9 per cent growth riding piggyback on the investment of Rs. 70,000 to 80,000 crore each financial year which is expected to push the gross budgetary support of 10 per cent amounting Rs. 20-30,000 crore per annum to be effective from the next financial year.
The document hopes that the north eastern states will be able to move neck and neck with the rest of the state with its focus on economy, trade and commerce beside a market-driven infrastructure with better transport facility–railways, roads, water transport and civil aviation.
The document has also stressed peoples participation at the grass root level to be ensured the empowerment of people through self governance saying it can only accelerate growth. Some others tips also include rural development with improvement in the field of agriculture.

Sibasagar police has arrested four individual for alleged links with ULFA. Among them three individuals are from Sibasagar and one from Moran. The individuals have been arrested for assisting in collection and supplying huge amount of money to ULFA. Guwahati: A powerful bomb that explodes in the city on Saturday morning leaves four people dead besides more than twenty injured.he explosion took place at Machkhowa and that too in front of a mosque at a daily vegetable market at around 7-30 am. All those killed in the explosion are pedestrians.Immediately after the explosion, top ranked police and civil administration officials arrived in the spot and investigation is going on.The injured were admitted to the nearby hospital.No one has so far been rounded up in the city.
