Workshop on Human Rights Violation in Assam at Nagoan

Union Grants Commission (UGC) sponsored workshop on HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION IN ASSAM is all scheduled to be held on 28th June 2008 with a day long program at ADP College premises Nagaon organized by English Department, ADP College. The agenda of the program starts off with lighting of the ceremonial lamp at 10.30am by Dr. J Balaji D.C Nagaon. A photo exhibition on the them HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION IN ASSAM will be in display by UB Photos a premier photo news agency of the North East and its director Utpal Baruah will brief the gathering on documentation of those photos and his experience on the subject. Kuladhar Saikia IPS IGP Assam Police will address the house on "Human Rights- HISTORY and REALITY". Former President Editors Guild of India and Veteran Journalist of Assam Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah will preside over the session. Right activist, Sahitya Akademi awardee and President Bodo Women Justice Forum Anjali Daimary on behalf of the mass people and G M Srivastava DGP Assam Police on behalf of the administration will elaborately speak on 'Issues and Propaganda related to Violation of Human Rights'.

A NDFB-S rebel identified as Buddhiram Basumatary alias Birkw of Amteka Debrabil in Chirang district was apprehanded from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar by security forces belonging to the Army on Sunday morning. Congress is gearing up to form the Tiwa Autonomous Council after the ruling party won 15 out of 31 seats. The party is trying to get the support of one candidate to complete the formality. “We are in touch with several candidates who have assured us support to form the council,” said a senior Congress leader.
