Golaghat district Administration observed birth anniversary of the father of nation along with other parts of the country on Friday.
DC Anowarul Haque offered floral tribute at the statue of the mahatma at a function at the district headquarters in the morning. Additional DC A Buglary and DIPRO Sulakshna Mithi Kachari also were present in the day long function.

Insufficient doctors at Nazira hospital

People of Nazira sub-division are suffering due to insufficient numbers of doctors at Nazira subsidiary health centre. This centre was established during the British rule in 1944 and is one of the oldest hospital of the Sivasagar district. Although departmently it is a SHC, it acts as a full-fledged hospital for the people of Nazira. At present, only 2 doctors are serving here instead of allotted 3 nos. Nurses and other staff are also not sufficient. Despite t existence of several PHCs in the sorrunding areas of Nazira, like Panibill, Kheluwa, Patsaku, Santok, Tengapukhuri, Namti etc. people of these areas came to this hospital hoping for better treatment.

Golden voice echoes in Delhi

The golden voice of Assam mesmerized lakhs of people in New Delhi when Assam displayed its tableaux at the Republic Day function on Sunday.

As soon as the tableaux was displayed with Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s Bristirna Parore Okahankhya Janatar….lakhs of people listened to the epoch making song and responded with a big hand. President Pranab Mukherjee raised his hands along with Vice President Dr Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who represents the state in the Rajya Sabha. The tableaux was full of Dr Hazarika’s statue apart from his books apart from the symbol of the Brahmaputra.
