Sarba contradicts VK Singh on refugees

The Centre’s recent move on Bangadeshi and Pakistani non Muslim refugees has divided the BJP leaders.

Much to a major embarrassment for BJP in the pre poll scene, the central leadership have been trying to downplay the simmering protest in Assam. But the state BJP leadership are caught in utter confusion.

Union sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal openly said that the refugees would settle in all states a day after his counterpart in external affairs said that Assam would have to bear the burden of the refugees.

Sources told Assam Times that Sonowal along with a few of his parliamentary colleagues in the state are not at all happy with the decision six months ahead of the assembly polls.

“We don’t have anything to say yes or no before the people. The state leadership are also least bothered. Even the state leadership have not convened a meeting of the MPs to discuss it,” said a senior party leader.
