Bijoy Krishna Handique no more

Bijoy Krishna Handique,  former union minister and Congress leader from Assam died at the Jorhat medical college on Sunday. He was suffering from respiratory ailments and admitted to the hospital Saturday evening. 

The only son of late Krishna Kanta Handique, the famous scholar and founding Vice Chancellor of the Gauhati University, Handique represented the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency for six consecutive terms since 1991. Handique held several portfolios in the union government. He was also a member of Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1985.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who visited the Jorhat Medical College on Saturday has led the state in condoling the death of Handique.
