Food poisioning revisits Nalbari

Atleast 20 people including children have fallen ill after they ate lunch dinner at a marriage ceremony in Nalbari on Wednesday.

It took place in Ghograpar area where a section of people complained of vomitting after they ate lunch served at a local marriage ceremoney in the afternoon. All they are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Repolling underway in 15 booths

Amid tight security, repolling is underway in altogether 15 booths covering four Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday.

Voters in large number are waiting to vote in the polling booths which began at 7 in the morning.

Long queues of voters were seen in a section of polling booths even from 6 in the morning.

The booths include three in Guwahati, nine in Kokrajhar and two in Nagaon and one in Mongoldoi constituency where polling was disrupted because of EVM malfunctioning.

Guwahati polling booths include No 1 Hengrabari LP School, No 180 Ganeshpara School and Ramchiary School under West Guwahati Assembly segment.

The repolling will continue till 5 in the evening.

Congress comebak to BTAD!

Congress party is confident of coming back to power in BTAD. Only the time is required. The ruling party in Dispur thinks so. The party will have to wait for 2015 elections in the BTC.

This was what the party leaders said in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Rajya Sabha MP Santiuse Kujur and Chandi Basumatary,ex MLA and Chief coordinator said that the Congress will contest in all 40 seats and scoring majority seats in the council election slated to be held next year 2015 by March-April.

Kujur said that Congress has started its campaign got the council election among party workers and held meetings in council region. He said that his party will oust BPF in the BTAD areas.

He has charged that BPF has been involved rampant corruption in the region in all sectors, of which why citizens are deprived from developments.

Above 60% turn out at Nazira

After heavy campagin and war of words among different political parties, the first phase of panchayat poll held peacefully in Nazira with over 60% turn out to decide the fate of 14 Zila Parishad candidates, 68 Gaon Panchayat presidents, 68 Anchalik Parishad members and 480 Ward Members of Nazira Anchalik Panchayat. A total of 624 candidates are contesting in Nazira. 19 ward members of Congress(I) and one ward member of CPI have already elected as uncontested. There was no any report of untoward incidents in Nazira.
