BTC election: parties claim majority

Four districts of BTAD is all set to the counting of council election tomorrow that held on April 8 for the 40 seats of council Assembly and various party and organisations including ruling BPF, PCDR are claiming of their council formation winning single largest majority seats.

Former Assam Minister,MLA and senior vice-president of BPF party Pramila Rani Brahma claimed that her party is winning single largest majority of 20-25 seats in the council.She said that BPF is going to retain the council for third consecutive terms in the council as her party was working for all round development of the council.She said that BPF will form the council with its single largest majority seats.

The Peoples Coordination for Democartic Rights(PCDR),a united organisation of various communities has expressed confident of winning single largest majority of 25 seats out of 40 member Assaembly in the council. Rabiram Narzary,BPPF president and adviser to PCDR,who has also contested both from Banargaon and Parbatjhora said that the PCDR is winning in 25 seats as peoples were voted to PCDR for meeting good governance in the region.He said that PCDR will form the council on its single largest majority.

Manoj Kumar Brahma, BJP leader and contested from Banargaon seat said that his party is winning in 10-15 seats and council would be formed in alliance with other parties in the council. He also confident that his winning from Banargaon is sure and council would be formed by BJP party.

The Congress party has also cofident of winning 13-15 seats in the council as results would be declared tomorrow,said Chandi Basumatary,ex-MLA and Chief Co- ordinator of BTC Congress Co-ordination comiittee.He said that his party will form council with alliance of like minded party and organisations except BJP and BPF as his party is winning the council in large seats. Basumatary was also contested the election from Goibari seat in Baksa district and confident of his winning is sure in the council.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
