From the next academic session, the varsity is set to fund the research programme to help the world know the various issues confronting the region. The sociology department has already approved the NEISP and the DU Academic Council would formally introduce it after a brainstorming session.

Sources told Assam Times that a panel of scholars has been preparing a paper to be placed before the University Grant Commission.  Apart from it, the varsity is likely to include the region in its syllabi in the MA and MPhil programmes.
