In one of the most anticipated bouts of the day, M Thomas of Manipur took Assam boxer Govind Thapa on in the light welter weight division. Thapa unlike his usual self decided to let his opponent make the first move, knowing that Thomas is strong a strong counter attacker. The tactics paid off, putting the Assam boxer on the back foot.
