Sonia Gandhi has asked Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to ensure that the Bezbaruah Committee recommendations on the north east in the new NCERT syllabus are implemented.
In a recent letter, Gandhi suggested Gogoi to ensure changes in NCERT syllabus in case the Centre decides to update the syllabus as per the recommendations made by the Bezbaruah panel.
She said that in the event the Centre does not act on the Bezbaruah Committee recommendations, the Congress-governed states in the region should do whatever is possible to implement them within their own states.
Gandhi also urged Gogoi to initiate steps to identify and highlight the contributions of freedom fighters from the region to create an awareness of their contributions within and outside the state.
