After a brief lull, poachers have struck Kaziranga again killing a full grown rhino on Wednesday. Forest guards recovered the carcass near Laodubi camp in the national park on Thursday wee hours three hours after they had a heavy gun fight in the Kohora range.
Sources told Assam Times that hearing gun firing the forest guards launched an operation in Kahora range where the heavy exchange of firing took place. The poachers, however, managed to escape with the rhino horn.
Assam Times broke the news of the encounter between forest gaurds and poachers at Kohora range of the world heritage site on Wednesday night at 9 in the evening which continued for several hours. There was report of any casualty.
