In an attempt to create awareness regarding barrier free environment, the students of Assam Institute of Management organised a seminar on the topic “Barrier Free Environment”. The seminar was held on Saturday Assam Institute of Management premises, Guwahati. The speakers invited were – Arman Ali, Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi, Ranjan K. Baruah, Social entrepreneur and Convener of North East Youth Foundation and Rajen Singh, Commandant of 24th Assam Police I.R.Bn, Baksa. The speakers put emphasis on bringing innovative and creative thinking for upliftment of disabled people. They also stated that the barriers are not created by the nature but by human beings. They finally concluded by saying that not only government offices but public and private organisations should have a barrier free infrastructure for the disabled people. Seminar was moderated by Sanjib Raj, Faculty of AIM. Student who had initiated the seminar and organised it were Gitashree Neog, Himadri Phukon, Hemanga Deka and Gautamraj Kashyap. Seminar was interactive as student had asked question to speakers at the end of their lecture.
